By far the most common reason a Telegram test message never arrives: Telegram bots can never start a conversation – they can only reply once you’ve messaged them first.
The fix
- Open Telegram and search for your bot by the username you gave it in @BotFather.
- Send it any message at all – even just “hi”.
- Go back to Settings → Approvals and try your test again.
Still not arriving?
- Double-check the bot token was copied in full, with no extra spaces, and re-save it.
- Confirm Send approval requests to Telegram is checked – the token alone doesn’t enable it.
- Make sure you’re messaging the exact bot the token belongs to, not a similarly-named one.
