SynaPost is LLM-agnostic – you’re never locked into one AI provider, and every provider is connected through the same simple flow: paste a key (or, for Ollama, a local address), test it, save.
Text generation
Under Settings → AI & Images, you’ll see a card for each available provider. OpenRouter is the provider a fresh install is pointed at first: its free models need no credit card, and its card has a guided Connect for free button, so you can have real AI output within about a minute of installing.
To connect any other provider, click Configure on its card, paste in your API key (or base URL, for Ollama), and test it before saving – a card only ever shows Connected once that test has actually succeeded. Once connected, reconfigure any time to change which provider generates your content, or to change that provider’s model. OpenRouter also has a Change model button, so you can switch models without re-entering your key.

Image generation
Featured images are configured separately, since not every text provider can also generate images. Under Thumbnails / Image Generation, choose between:
- Auto – uses the best available option automatically.
- OpenAI – real AI-generated images, using the same connected OpenAI key as text generation.
- SynaPost (free placeholder) – a styled placeholder graphic, no API key required.

No provider connected yet?
If nothing is generating, check Currently generating with at the top of the AI & Images tab – it always shows exactly which provider is active, or tells you plainly that none is connected yet. Connect OpenRouter for free in about a minute to fix that.
