OpenAI is available on every SynaPost plan, including free, and is the fastest provider to get generating real content with.
1. Get an API key
Create an account and generate a key at platform.openai.com.
2. Connect it in SynaPost
- Go to Settings → AI & Images and click Configure on the OpenAI card.
- Paste your key and click Test connection – SynaPost verifies the key works before letting you save it.
- Enter the exact model ID you want to use (for example
gpt-4o-mini), and optionally set OpenAI as your default provider. - Save. The card now shows as Connected.
Real AI thumbnails
OpenAI is also the provider behind real AI-generated thumbnails (a paid-plan feature) – the same connected API key is used for both article generation and image generation, no separate setup needed.
Billing
SynaPost never meters or marks up usage – you’re billed directly by OpenAI at your own account’s rates, separate from your SynaPost subscription.
Switching later
You can change the model ID or switch to a different provider entirely at any time by reconfiguring – nothing about your topics, drafts, or history depends on which provider generated them. See Choosing an AI Provider for what else is available on your plan.
