SynaPost is LLM-agnostic – you’re never locked into one AI provider, and you can switch at any time without losing any settings or history.
OpenRouter and OpenAI (available on every plan, free included)
OpenRouter is the provider a fresh install is pointed at first. Its free models need no credit card, and one key gives you a choice of several – see Connecting OpenRouter. OpenAI is also available on every plan; see Connecting OpenAI.
Every other provider (SynaPost Pro)
SynaPost Pro unlocks the rest of the provider list, including paid OpenRouter models. Each has its own dedicated setup guide:

- Connecting Ollama – a self-hosted option, for running your own local or private model instead of a hosted API.
Choosing a model
Each provider’s exact model ID (for example gpt-4o-mini or a current Claude model ID) is set as part of that provider’s own setup step, and can be changed any time by reconfiguring it – no need to disconnect and reconnect.
Checking what’s currently active
Currently generating with, shown at the top of the AI & Images tab, always tells you exactly which provider is live – useful if content doesn’t look like you expect and you want to rule out an unintended provider switch first.
