Telegram lets you approve, regenerate, or cancel articles from your phone the moment they’re ready – no need to open wp-admin.
Create a bot
- Open Telegram and message @BotFather.
- Send
/newbotand follow the prompts to name it. - BotFather will give you a bot token – copy it.
Connect it to SynaPost
- Go to Settings → Approvals.
- Check Send approval requests to Telegram.
- Paste your bot token into Bot Token and save.
Finding your Chat ID
After messaging your bot (see below), find your Chat ID by visiting https://api.telegram.org/bot<YOUR_TOKEN>/getUpdates in a browser, replacing <YOUR_TOKEN> with your real token – look for "chat":{"id": followed by a number in the response, and enter that number into the Chat ID field.
Registering the webhook
The approval buttons (Publish, Regenerate, Cancel) need one more one-time step beyond receiving the initial message: registering SynaPost’s webhook URL with Telegram by visiting https://api.telegram.org/bot<YOUR_TOKEN>/setWebhook?url=<YOUR_WEBHOOK_URL>, using the exact webhook URL SynaPost shows you on the same settings screen. Skip this and you can still receive approval notifications, but tapping a button in Telegram won’t do anything.
The one step people miss
Telegram bots can never start a conversation – they can only reply once you’ve messaged them first. Before testing, open a chat with your bot and send it anything, even just “hi”. If your test message never arrives, this is almost always why – see Telegram approval messages aren’t arriving.
Testing the connection
Use the Send Test Message button on the Approvals tab to confirm everything is wired up correctly before relying on it for real approvals.
Once it’s connected
Every article that needs approval goes out to Telegram – and to Slack and Email, if you’ve enabled those too – at once. Approving, regenerating, or cancelling from any one of them resolves it everywhere, including the in-dashboard Approval Center.
